  • Coding Basics: Scratch 101 (Coding for Tweens)

    Location: Felton
    Room: Felton Community Room

    Are you looking to learn how to code? 

    Now is your chance to learn to code with Scratch! Scratch is a free online coding program. This fun and interactive course will show you the basics of coding, with the end purpose of creating a simple platformer game! 

    Course Instructor: Amir Vered (ACT Member and SCPL Volunteer)

    The course is totally free! Age Range (8yrs to 12yrs).

    Registration is required to attend the whole course. Space is limited to 10 participants. THE CLASS IS CURRENTLY AT CAPACITY. Please email Iván Llamas at llamasi@santacruzpl for more info, or questions. 

    We will meet every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month, from 11am to 12pm at the Felton Library Community Room. Due to this program being before open hours, please enter through the Patio entrance at the far end of the parking lot (near the EV Charging Stations).

Fixing broken hardware or software is not within our scope. Possible topics may include: creating an email account, creating documents, attaching files, using premium subscription library resources, downloading and streaming content like movies, books, and audiobooks, and more. Please bring any devices you use, and have your necessary passwords and library card with you.

  • Animate Your Life Story @ Capitola
    Sun, Aug. 14 (1:00 PM-3:00 PM)
    Location: Capitola
    Room: Ow Family Community Room

    Create a story from your life and then animate it!  A published author who has also written and staged musical theater productions will teach you how to create your own story—including scene, setting, dialog, and narration. After completing your story, you will create an animation to be broadcast on local TV. 

    6 week series.  August 14, 21, & 28; September 11,18, & 25 

    Note: No class Labor Day weekend.  Sept 11th class will be in the Capitola multiuse room. October 2nd class is optional.

    For adults, 18+  Class size is limited to 6.  Registration required.
