Summer Reading 2022

June 1st to July 31st

The Summer Reading program at the Santa Cruz Public Libraries is for all ages, from birth to 100+. We encourage parents to sign up too! Parents who read at home demonstrate to their kids & teens that reading is important & fun. And just 5 hours of reading earns the Adults' tote bag for your family.

Read and complete activities to earn virtual badges, books, and raffle tickets for a chance to win prizes. You can sign up online for a Beanstack account any time. Our Summer Reading Program sign ups begin June 1st. You may also pick up a paper log at any of our branches beginning June 1st.

How it works:

This year we will be using a program called Beanstack to keep track of Summer Reading Program participation. With Beanstack, you can log your reading minutes and activities online or with the Beanstack Tracker app on a smart phone or tablet. If you participated in our Summer Reading Program in any of the last three years, then you probably already have a Beanstack account. We will also be offering a paper reading log for those who would like to keep track of their reading offline. For a full set of Beanstack instructions, see the document "Program Instructions - English" on the Quick Links side bar menu.

If you need help creating a Beanstack account, remembering your Beanstack username and password, or if you would like staff to log your reading for you, call our TelInfo staff at 831-427-7713 or email eLibrary@santacruzpl.org.

All types of reading minutes count:

  • Read print materials such as books, graphic novels, magazines and newspapers
  • Read E-books and other online resources
