Mental Health Awareness Month

75 years ago Mental Health America (MHA) (then known as the National Association for Mental Health) created an observance of a concern that is innately human at some point in life; it has since become a presidential proclamation.

Over the years, there has been continued collaboration among organizations to raise awareness and educate the public about mental illnesses, the realities of living with these conditions; and strategies for attaining mental health and wellness. It is an ongoing challenge to reduce the stigma (negative attitudes and misconceptions) that surrounds mental illnesses.

The intended purpose for this observed topic is to increase awareness of the importance of mental health and wellness in all lives, to celebrate recovery from mental illness, and to promote continued wellbeing.
