Boulder Creek Library Re-Opening May 7th!

The Santa Cruz Public Libraries (SCPL), in partnership with the Friends of the Santa Cruz Public (FSCPL) and the Friends of the Boulder Creek Branch Library, are excited  to announce the grand reopening of the beautifully remodeled Boulder Creek Branch Library. A Grand Reopening Celebration will be held from 12 – 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 7 th at the newly remodeled library, located at 13390 West Park Ave. in Boulder Creek. The community is invited to tour the dynamic remodel, enjoy refreshments and entertainment, and access library services.


Opening day festivities begin with special guest speakers Yolande Wilburn, SCPL Library Director, and Bruce McPherson, Fifth District Supervisor. Local musical favorites Backyard Birds will perform their fresh blend of vocal harmonies from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. In addition to refreshments and flowers generously donated by Jenna Sue’s Cafe and the Homeless Garden Project, crafts for children and adults, and storytimes with SCPL Librarians will be provided. Finally, magician mike Della Pena will perform shows in the amphitheater, with one performance at 2 p.m. and again at 3 p.m. “We are truly delighted to return the Boulder Creek Branch Library to service for the community,” Says Library Director Yolande Wilburn. According to Wilburn, the interior remodel of the library includes new infrastructure; upgrades to comply with accessibility standards; a  complete re-do of children’s area; community space and meeting room. The design was done by Jayson Architecture, with CRW builders and construction management by Bogard.
