Aptos Branch Closure

At 5pm on Friday, June 11th the Aptos Library concludes public service in the current 46 year old structure. Opening its doors in 1975, this cherished branch library has stood steadfast, welcoming the community. This is a bittersweet moment for SCPL and library patrons as, with gratitude, we say goodbye to this long serving library and prepare for the Measure S construction of a library of the future.

This comprehensive project includes plans to raze the current structure and begin construction in Summer 2021 with the dynamic team of Anderson Brule Architects and Bogard Construction, see Latest Images.

SCPL will provide advance publicity for the date and time of the razing of the Aptos Library and is making plans to film the razing.

The Aptos Friends of the Santa Cruz Public Library will be selling library furniture and hosting a Book Sale on July 24th & 25th. This weekend event will also serve as an opportunity to say goodbye to the current Aptos branch.

The Capitola and La Selva Beach Branch libraries will serve Aptos library patrons during construction. SCPL will expand service hours at all locations effective: Saturday, July 10th. The Aptos branch should open at the end of 2022 though this timeline is subject to change.

The Aptos Library staff will greatly miss the Aptos Library community and look forward to serving you again in the Aptos library of the future!
