eBooks for Schools Fundraiser with Susan Orlean

SCPL News

The Friends of the Santa Cruz Public Libraries is pleased to announce a new partnership with Santa Cruz County Schools for a campaign to put electronic resources in the hands of our teachers and students. This year, we anticipate much greater need for digitally accessed materials and it is critical to ensure that all Santa Cruz Schools are well equipped to handle the unique challenge of learning at home in unprecedented times.

In conjunction with this campaign, The Friends of the Santa Cruz Public Libraries is thrilled to announce a very special virtual event with writer Susan Orleans. This event will take place on October 1st at 4PM. All donors who contribute $100 or more to our Ebooks Campaign will receive an invitation. Susan Orleans will be interviewed by Santa Cruz's own Nikki Silva of Peabody-Award-Winning NPR duo The Kitchen Sisters.

Author info:

Orlean is a longtime staff writer for The New Yorker. Her work has appeared in Vogue, Esquire, Rolling Stone, and more. She is also the author of The Orchid Thief, which was made into the metafictional movie Adaptation(2002) in which Meryl Streep won an Oscar for her portrayal of Orlean. Orlean's most recent work is The Library Book, an account of the mysterious LA Public Library fire of the 1980s.

We hope to see you at this very special event. Donate today to ensure our school year in Santa Cruz County is one of accomplishment: bit.ly/33WzVZU.
