Community-sponsored programs which provide for the collection and composting of leaves, grass clippings, tree trimmings and other yard waste. Included are programs that provide home compost bins which enable residents to create mulching materials for their own gardens and programs that operate centralized composting facilities to which residents can bring their yard waste. Some communities provide receptacles for the collection of yard waste, pick up the materials and take them to a facility for composting. Centrally composted materials may be used in community beautification projects or sold to local landscapers or residents.
