Programs that provide consultation, training or contractual services for human service organizations that need assistance in planning and implementing a system which provides for the storage and retrieval of information about agencies and organizations that offer human services for residents of the community. Included are assistance in the selection of a format (card files, microfiche, computerized system) appropriate to the organization's needs and the size of the file; the establishment of inclusion criteria; the development of specifications for the content, structure, indexing and cross-referencing of agency entries; the design of questionnaires to acquire program information from community service providers; the development of strategies to verify the accuracy of resource information; and the formulation of procedures for ensuring that information is updated on a regular basis.
