Description: Housing Matters is a shelter program that partners with individuals and families to create pathways out of their homelessness and into permanent housing. We hold firmly to a vision that homelessness in Santa Cruz County should be rare, brief, and non-recurring. Housing Matters runs three separate shelters on our coral street campus; in all three shelters work case managers directly to address individual housing needs. Housing Matters also offers day services--showering, charging stations, and mail pickup to homeless individuals in the county. We are available to all residents of Santa Cruz county.

All of our programs follow a Housing First model. Housing First is an internationally recognized best practice that focuses on successfully connecting individuals and families with stable, permanent housing, without preconditions or barriers to entry, so that they can more effectively address their challenges and pursue opportunities.
