| Description: | CalFresh (Food Stamps): The program issues monthly electronic benefits that can be used to buy most foods at many markets and food stores. For more information or to apply for CalFresh visit www.calfresh.ca.gov or call (916) 654-1896. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program: the name for the federal food stamp program, an online application system allows individuals to apply for the program through a secured site. For more information, call (877) 847-FOOD (3663) or apply online at www.c4yourself.com. Emergency Food and Shelter Program: United Way serves as the fiscal agent for the EFSP. For more information about United Way, go to www.efsp.unitedway.org. Emergency Food Assistance Program Food banks solicit and warehouse donated food and other products which is then distributed to a variety of community agencies which serve people in need.
