Better than perfect
Title: Dumplin'
By: Julie Murphy
Clover City, Texas, is known for its annual Miss Teen Blue Bonnet Pageant. Willowdean Dickson, known as Will or Dumplin’, is perfectly happy in her own skin, much to the chagrin of her former pageant queen mother. Will isn’t one of the skinny pageant girls, and wouldn’t have it any other way. Working at the local fast food restaurant, she meets Bo, who likes her for who she is—curves and all. Suspicious of Bo’s intentions, Will begins to wonder if she really is happy with herself. She decides to enter the Miss Teen Blue Bonnet Pageant to show the town that girls come in every shape and size, and are not always perfect. Along the way, Will learns that true friends stick by you no matter what, and, that by entering the pageant, she has unwittingly inspired several other "non-pageant" girls to join her. The Miss Blue Bonnet Pageant will never be the same.
