Living with Fire:
Fire Ecology of the Central Coast

Join us for a discussion about the various ecological and social solutions for living with fire on the Central Coast. Our presenter, Dr. Lee Klinger leads a movement aimed at using ecologically-based techniques to address the problem of oak mortality in California and elsewhere.

Thursday • December 6
6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Downtown Library • 224 Church St.

Dr. Lee Klinger is a tree care practitioner living in Big Sur, California. Since 2005 he has served as director of Sudden Oak Life. He has over 30 years of academic experience in the environmental sciences and has held scholarly appointments at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, the University of Colorado, the University of Oxford, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Geological Society of London.

Citizen Science is a collaboration between the Santa Cruz Public Libraries; the Santa Cruz Children's Museum of Discovery (SCCMOD), and the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC).

We invite you to join us every first Thursday of the month for a presentation and Q&A with local experts and researchers in the field discussing life science, ecology, geology, genetics, climatology and more. Let’s connect, inspire and inform each other!
