Climate Change Adaptation
Planning for the New Normal

Different from mitigation, adaptation to climate change means adjusting natural and human systems in response to actual or expected climate related activities and their effects, with the intention to mitigate harm or exploit opportunities. Learn about Santa Cruz City’s first sea level rise vulnerability assessment and first social vulnerability assessment. Find out how you can get involved in community discussions about adaptation planning in the future.

Thursday • December 7
6:30pm - 8:00pm
Downtown Library • 224 Church St.

Our presenter, Dr. Tiffany Wise-West, is the Sustainability and Climate Action Coordinator for the City of Santa Cruz. She holds a BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering, and both an MA and a Ph.D. in Environmental Studies. Dr. Wise-West collaborates across public, private and academic sectors to deliver award winning emissions mitigation and climate adaptation projects and programs.

Citizen Science is a collaboration between the Santa Cruz Public Libraries; the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History (SCMNH), the Santa Cruz Children's Museum of Discovery (SCCMOD) and the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC).

We invite you to join us every first Thursday of the month for a presentation and Q&A with local experts and researchers in the field discussing life science, ecology, geology, genetics, climatology and more. Let’s connect, inspire and inform each other!
