Author Talk with Grant Faulkner

SCPL News

Grant Faulkner is an author who believes quite simply that everyone is a writer — that we create our world through the stories we tell. He is the founder and Executive Director of NaNoWriMo. Come and be inspired to write your own story.

Grant Faulkner: Pep Talks for Writers
Thursday • November 16 • 6:00pm
Downtown Library • 224 Church St.

Each story is a gift, a door that opens a new way to see and relate with others in this crazy, crazy world. Stories are the oxygen our souls breathe, a way to bring the unsayable, the unseeable, the unspeakable to life. Our creative lives shouldn’t be a hall pass from the stiff and forbidding demands of our lives. Writing our stories takes us beyond the grueling grind that life can unfortunately become, beyond the constraints of the roles we find ourselves in each day, to make the world a bigger place.

NaNoWriMo is the most fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to creative writing! National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is an annual challenge during the month of November to write the first draft of a 50,000 word novel. To help facilitate the creative process, Santa Cruz Public Libraries is hosting Come Write-Ins at most of our branches throughout the county. Here you'll be able to share your ideas, stories, and support other writers in their quest for 50,000 words.
