You Can Do That @ the Library?!

We will help you to recycle it

The Libraries accept cell phones and chargers, PDAs, pagers, books, videos and music CDs--and some branches will even take your used batteries. Ask at your nearest branch to find out what they will accept for recycling.

See our Calendar, Online Catalog or Branch pages for more details and contact information.

Food for Fines Amnesty Event

National Library Week is coming up soon, from April 8 through the 14th. To celebrate, county residents are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to any Santa Cruz Public Libraries’ branch. For each non-perishable food item donated, the library will forgive $1.00 worth of overdue or request charge fines, up to $20. All donations will go to Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Cruz County.

Some suggestions of food items to be donated include: canned meat, canned fish, canned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter, beans, pasta, rice, cereal and fruit juice. Even if you don’t have fines, you can bring a donation to put in the barrel or take an envelope to mail your cash donation.

The Second Harvest Food Bank is a non-profit organization providing food and basic necessities to our neighbors, half of whom are children. Visit to learn how your contributions make a difference in our community.
