Found Burned to a Cinder

From I.E. Paddack, of Lexington, we learn the particulars of a terrible accident which occurred near that place, on the 20th of this month. Frank Howard was found burned to a cinder, his cabin also burned around him. It is supposed that the deceased filled a coal oil lamp which exploded, and as Howard had been subject to fits and spasms and was an intemperate man, it is likely that the above theory is the correct one. Howard was formerly a soldier and served in the 5th California Infantry, his company being commanded by T.T. Tidball, of Santa Cruz...Mercury
