James S. Fluent, for 18 years a resident of Soquel aged 82 years died last month at Yountville, in the Soldiers Home. He was a member of Santa Cruz Pioneers and went to the home a few weeks ago. He and his wife lived apart for the last 4 or 5 years. The wife’s whereabouts are not now known. The deceased leaves one son who resides in the east. Mr. Fluent was a pensioner [not Mexican War] receiving $8 per month.
