WAKELEE, THOMAS D (1842-1909)

Santa Cruz Sentinel (December 21, 1909)

Thomas D. Wakelee, who in the latter 80’s and early 90’s was the Southern Pacific Station Agent in Aptos, died in Gilroy last week at the age of 68. He was a native of New York and a Civil war veteran having taken part in 16 battles besides many skirmishes. He was a member of the 98th New York Volunteers and was discharged a quartermaster sergeant after 3 years of service. He leaves a widow and two daughters Mrs. Robert Jackson of Reno Nev. and Mrs. Ballard White of Gilroy.
