Description: The St. Vincent de Paul Society (SVDP) is a nonprofit organization that provides direct assistance to the needy. Individuals can call our Need Line for help with food, financial assistance and/or referrals to other agencies.

The SVDP District Council of Santa Cruz County is a grouping of SVDP Conferences based in Catholic churches in the Santa Cruz, Watsonville, Capitola/Soquel and Scotts Valley areas. The Council oversees Conference activities and maintains spiritual unity and communications.

ELIGIBILITY: Anyone in need. Call, leave address and phone number on machine.

FUNDING SOURCE: The Conferences are funded primarily through special Sunday collections held five times per year in their Catholic parishes. Other donations are occasionally received, for example, through bequests or car donations. All funds are used to assist local adults and families in need. In Santa Cruz County, SVDP is staffed entirely by volunteers which keeps costs down.
