Description: The Santa Cruz City Band was started in 1994 by John Thomas to provide a place for local musicians to play. Originally part of the Santa Cruz Parks and Recreation Department, the band now practices and performs under the auspices of the Santa Cruz High School Band Boosters.

The band practices every Monday night from 7:30 to 9:30 with breaks during the holidays and in the summer. Anyone who can play an instrument and read music is invited to attend. The band meets at the Santa Cruz High School at the corner of California and Walnut in the band room (next to the bike cage on California St.). There is a suggested donation of $15.00/month.
