Our large collection of reference materials is housed in the Santa Cruz Public Libraries, Downtown Branch located in downtown Santa Cruz.

These resources are open to all researchers, during normal library hours, for in-library use only. Society volunteers staff the California History and Genealogy Room for several hours most days, and are available to aid the beginner, to help locate materials, and to suggest research techniques.
Mission: The mission of the Genealogical Society of Santa Cruz County is to foster and nurture interest in genealogy by providing guidance, information, and inspiration, while encouraging the broader public in the development of family histories and genealogical records.
Programs: Research Assistance

The Genealogical Society of Santa Cruz County offers a research service, provided by qualified volunteers, to find information on your ancestor who lived in Santa Cruz County, California. We will search our own holdings and those of the Santa Cruz Public Libraries for you.

To obtain this research assistance, a modest charge of $20 gets the ball rolling. It entitles you to an initial evaluation and one hour of research time. Many requests can be answered in this time. If more time is required to complete the task, or if new opportunities for further research turn up, we will furnish a report outlining a research plan with an estimate of any additional costs.
