Details
Description: The Medical Board of California is a state government agency which licenses and disciplines medical doctors. The Board provides two principal types of services to consumers: public-record information about California-licensed physicians, and investigation of complaints against physicians.

To inquire about a physician, consumers can call the Board to find out if the doctor's license is current and renewed, and also whether there have been any administrative-related actions against the doctor. Although the Board is not a physician-referral service and cannot direct consumers to a physician in their community, it has some suggestions on how to select a doctor-check their website under Consumers.
Mission: The mission of the Medical Board of California is to protect health care consumers through the proper licensing and regulation of physicians and surgeons and certain allied health care professions and through the vigorous, objective enforcement of the Medical Practice Act, and to promote access to quality medical care through the Board's licensing and regulatory functions.
