Description: The Rabbit Haven rescues abandoned rabbits and guinea pigs and accepts surrendered rabbits and guinea pigs from the general public and shelters in Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, Contra Costa, San Benito and Monterey Counties. We then work to place these rescued animals into loving foster homes, secure medical care including needed spay neuter, and then place them into permanent homes. The Rabbit Haven works in the community, at schools, with shelters, and other education groups to educate the public on animal care, feeding, grooming, medical needs, social dynamics and behaviors.
Mission: To provide emergency rescue, shelter, medical care, foster care, and spay/neuter services for abandoned or at risk rabbits. To place these rabbits into permanent, safe, loving, indoor homes. To educate the public about rabbits, specifically their care, feeding and grooming; their medical and social needs; and their behaviors.
Programs: Rescue services, The Haven bunny Hop events, Bunnyfest (annual event), Nail trim and home health ck services and veterinary referral services. In addition we have an open volunteer program and community education section. Bunny Bee group that creates soft useful products for rabbits. Boy scout and girl scout programs We operate a help desk to answer the public’s question about rabbits and their care 5 days a week.
