Programs that provide organized opportunities for individuals to pursue their interest in the science that deals with the material universe beyond the earth's atmosphere, often through the medium of a club or society that is under the leadership of people who are knowledgeable in the subject. Activities may include lectures or other presentations that deal with the sun, planets, stars, galaxies, comets and other celestial bodies; excursions to observatories or planetariums; group observations of eclipses and other celestial phenomena; and other similar opportunities for members to engage in their hobby.
