Description: The Mental Health Client Action Network of Santa Cruz County is a peer-run organization dedicated to providing mutual support and networking, to having a voice in all matters which affect us, to creating programs controlled by peers, to advocating for the rights to choose our own life paths, to educating the public from our own perspective, and to working to eradicate treatment disparities and confronting discrimination.
MHCAN provides a place of connection in the tumult of life. So come, put aside the cares of the week and find yourself in the presence of folks who really care.
Mission: OUR MISSION IS HELPING PEOPLE FIND THEIR WAY BACK TO THEIR DREAMS
Programs: MHCAN's peer-run mental health community center is operated on a drop-in basis. Peers are free to congregate in our common areas, use our commercial-quality kitchen and our computer center with Microsoft Windows operating systems. The wide variety of classes, support groups and services take place in on-site meeting rooms.

The Shadow Speakers endeavors to reduce stigma and discrimination by education through sharing our stories with schools, hospitals, law enforcement personnel and community members. Shadow Speakers works to eliminate the fear, prejudice, stigma and discrimination associated with being a mental health peer, helping to create a more healthy, safe and supportive environment for all individuals in Santa Cruz county.
