SCPL's CodeCombat Coding Club is a once weekly meetup where we use online, game-based coding to learn Python and JavaScript. CodeCombat is a real game that teaches learners of all ages to code by playing through levels and quickly mastering programming concepts. It's not just gamification with bells and whistles, it's democratizing learning to code by making the process more accessible and engaging than ever before! Learners write code, execute it and see their changes in real-time!

SCPL is partnering with the Children's Museum of Discovery (MOD), The Natural History Museum and UCSC to present a science series for adults. Meetings will be held on the 1st Thursday every month at 6:30pm at one of the branch libraries.
Note: The subversive role of Citizen participation in science: The many ways of taking action to change society. With Rhiannon Crain, Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Bring your own stories of ways you have become involved in science. Find out more about local opportunities and get connected! All welcome!

Join us on Tuesday afternoons for some building fun with LEGO or DUPLO bricks. Children learn through play and bricks provide a wonderful link between structure, patterns and imagination. Let's build and learn together! Ages 3 and older as the LEGO bricks are very small.

Location: Downtown Branch
A flexible club bringing together a community of young people with mentors and a space to make. Participants work together to design, create, and ultimately exhibit a youth-chosen project , aimed towards exhibiting at a showcase event like Maker Faire. The club is lead by Sasha, a young maker mentor, who has been on panels at Intel, Pearson Learning, Pixar and Bay Area Maker Faire, and Young Makers. She has won awards at Synopsys Silicon Valley Science and Technology Championship and Santa Cruz County Science & Engineering Fair. She was recently published in National Geographic Magazine January 2017 issue. Club meets the second Tuesday of each month, September thru December.
