If you or someone you know is in crisis and doesn't know where to turn, talking with Steven or Kris may help. Speak with Steven or Kris, about housing or wellness or connecting with social services. Drop-in for a confidential check-in during office hours at the Downtown library, in the downstairs small meeting room (behind the computer area). Kris or Steven can help with; a fee free California ID application, a homeward bound bus ticket, a mailing address via the Homeless Services Center (HSC), registration for the HSC campus, connection to Homeless Persons Health Project, housing or job applications, connection to County benefits or Mental Health Services, and more.

Please join us in front of the downtown branch library (at the benches on the corner of Church St. and Center St.) every Thursday morning (except major holidays) for a free cup of coffee and the chance to talk, vent, brainstorm and connect with friends, neighbors and service providers. Same day sign-ups during Coffee Talk in front of the Downtown branch library at the corner Church St. & Center St. Drop-in also welcome. The Friends of the Capitola Branch Library have hundreds of books of all genres: fiction, non-fiction, children’s hardback, and lots of CDs all at great prices. While you're at the sale, pick up information about the new library and see the current architectural designs and pictures for the new 11,000+ sq. ft. library to be built on the current site. The ground breaking for the new building by the architects Noll & Tam is scheduled for the summer 2018, with construction to be completed by summer 2019.

The Aptos Library Writing Group is a peer-led, community-based, on-going writing group. Those interested in: sharing their writing; improving and developing their writing; or trying their hand at writing for the first time, are welcome. No experience is necessary and all writing formats are considered, from poetry to short stories, from memoirs to fiction. Each session begins with a 10 minute writing exercise, followed by a read-aloud (sharing is optional). Next, participants take turns reading aloud from a current writing project. Assistance with editing on current writing projects is provided; please bring additional copies if interested in editorial support. This group assembles on the third Wednesday of each month from 1pm-3pm in the meeting room of the Aptos branch library.

The Age Well, Drive Smart Program is designed to provide mature drivers with the keys to driving safer and driving longer.
