Teen Art & Lit — Writing
Writing Class: Then and Now
by Whitney J., age 16
My first time in this class, I'm curled in the corner
It's weird to be back in this room
I really don't know anyone, we ignore each other
My friends sit next to me as I continue to write
I stare at the blank page trying to get inspired
I let my gaze wonder, knowing the ideas will come
He wants us to share, I don't know if I can...
I'll share if I find something that pleases me
I fight for air as I read, my voice shakes
Reading's still hard, but it's not as bad as it was before
What will they think?
I don't care what they think
