Dead Until Dark
By: Charlene Harris

Dead Until Dark, the first in the series of the Sookie Stackhouse urban fantasy novels, gives the ever-popular vampire story a series of amusing and contemporary twists. The heroine is Sookie, a waitress with a "disability" -- she can hear the thoughts of those around her. At least she can until she meets her first vampire; his silence is so intriguing she throws caution to the winds and allows herself to get sucked into his world. It's a fast-paced story, full of suspense, sex, and sly humor. An excellent light summer page turner! The audiobook version (I checked it out from OneClickdigital) is amusingly and convincingly voiced by Johanna Parker.
