Eclipse

In the third book of the Twilight saga, Bella is surrounded by danger. The Volturi could check on her at any time, Victoria is bent on avenging her lover's death, and now there appears to be a serial killer in nearby Seattle. And then there's her boyfriend and her best friend, each of whom could break her in two if they lost control.

I found this book riveting and immensely sad. How can you possibly choose between the love of your life and your best friend?

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed the earlier books in the series.

Destined

In the ninth book in the House of Night series, Zoey and her group of fledgelings, vampyres, humans, and other unclassifiables, continue their quest to expose and destroy Neferet.

I love the story and writing style of this mother-daughter team. As we get further and further into the overall story, we're treated to the point of view of more and more characters, an interesting technique for keeping our attention and deepening our understanding of the characters.

I can definitely recommend this book, and the entire series, to adults and precocious teens 13 and older. I find the writing better than that of the Twilight series. The depth of the overall struggle isn't as compelling as in the Harry Potter series, but then again, I haven't found anything else that is either.
