How to Navigate Local Measures

This page tells how Local Measures is laid out in the hopes that it will make navigating it easier. However, if there is any difficulty using Local Measures, please feel free to contact Telephone Reference at 420-5730 for assistance.

Basic layout of each page

At the top of each page is a graphic that says Local Measures. Following it are three more graphics which are links. The first graphic allows you to bypass all the following navigation links. The second graphic links to the page you are reading now. The third graphic links to the Library's home page.

Following those graphics is navigation menu. The navigation menu consists of a link to the keyword search form and a list of dates, which are links.

The remainder of the page is laid out in one of two ways, depending on whether or not the style sheets are enabled. If style sheets are enabled, the keyword search form is to the right of the navigation menu. If style sheets are disabled, the keyword search form is below the navigation menu.

What happens when you perform an action

Whenever you select an election year link or perform a search, the screen refreshes and a new page is displayed. The new page starts with the same graphics and the navigation links as on the opening page. The new information displays in the location where the keyword search form had been.

Bypassing the navigation links and going to the new information

You can use the bypass link at the top of the page to skip the navigation links and go to the "new information section". On the opening screen, selecting the bypass link will take you directly to the keyword form. On other pages, selecting the bypass link, will take you to the new information.

The layout of the "new information section"

Except for the keyword search form, this section is laid out using a series of tables. The software was set up that way and we were not able to change it without writing a new program. We apologize if this causes any confusion when using it. If there is any difficulty using the page, please contact Telephone Reference at 420-5730 for assistance.

Link to full text of a measure

Each measure title, for example, Measure A (1988 November), is a link to a page that either gives the full text of the measure or tells you where a copy is located. Those links behave like ordinary links, bringing up whole new pages.
