The Census includes incorporated cities (indicated by "city") and unincorporated places. Unincorporated places are called Census Designated Places (indicated by "CDP"). CDP boundaries are determined from information supplied by the County Planning Department. What you may think of as, for example, Live Oak, may not be the same as the CDP called Live Oak. To see what constitutes a particular CDP, check the track map. CDPs are shown on the 2000 Tract Maps as colored areas. The 1990 paper tract and block maps use different ways to indicate CDPs. Check the legend on the map. On both 2000 and 1990 maps, the boundary streets are not shown. So you may have to use a street map at the same time as you look at a track or block map.
