Complaints About Medical Professionals

To file a complaint against a doctor or other health professional, call the Medical Board of California's toll-free hotline at (800) 633-2322. Staff will provide information about filing your complaint and send a complaint form. The complaint form is also available on the Medical Board's website at http://www.medbd.ca.gov/consumer/complaint_info.html. Complaints must be submitted in writing. Patients may file complaints by sending the form or a letter to:

Medical Board of California
Central Complaint Unit
1426 Howe Avenue, Suite 54
Sacramento, CA 95825-3236.

A complaint letter should include as much information as possible, including, when possible, the name of the physician or health workers involved, where they work, when the incident occurred, and details of the allegation. Complaints may be filed anonymously, "however, the Board may be unable to pursue the complaint unless we can document evidence of the allegations made."
