Training for Assistive Technology for Visually Impaired

The following agencies provide training of individuals with acute visual disabilities in Braille, Zoom-Text, word processing and Internet commands:

Doran Resource Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, 413 Laurel, 458-9766.
Teach Braille and life skills.

Cabrillo College -- Disabled Student Services, 6500 Soquel Drive, 479-6379.
Teach Zoom-Text and many other programs. Cabrillo has several teachers who can link people of all ages with the technology they need to navigate the Internet, do word processing, etc. They teach the key-stroke commands needed to operate most popular products that are on the market.

Santa Cruz County Office of Education, 809-H Bay Avenue, 476-7140.
Teach Braille, Pre-Braille, Zoom-Text and a variety of skills to young people. They do not offer services to adults.
