Olallie Berry

There are various forms of spelling and definitions for olallie berries. Sharon Herbst describes the olallieberry as a cross between a youngberry and a loganberry, resembling a large elongated blackberry with a sweet distinctive flavor. Robert Hendrickson considers the olalli berry a cross between the loganberry and the blackberry that is firm, tender and not grossly seeded. The editors at Sunset Books in the Western Garden Book say the "olallie" is a variety of blackberry that is large, firm and shiny black. All agree that it's well adapted to the west coast and great for pies and jams.
