Mountain Charley

Mountain Charley's real name was Charles Henry McKiernan. He was one of the first white settlers in the Santa Cruz Mountains. He was most famous for surviving a hand to hand battle with a grizzly bear in 1854. For more information on his life, see the article on Mountain Charley, by John V.
