California's First Woman Governor

Associated Press, July 15, 1976:
"California had an Oriental woman governor for a day yesterday while Governor Brown and three other top officials were out of the state. Secretary of State March Fong Eu took Brown's place--becoming the first woman and the first Asian-American ever to serve as acting governor in California."
