A "bindi" is the red "spot" that Hindu women wear on their foreheads. It is made of a powder or, today, lipstick or even a bit of plastic in a bindi kit. It does not signify that the woman is married or of a certain caste, but it is an affirmation that she is Shakti, the feminine power. It can also signify the Third Eye.
