Two Local Author/Performer Lists

There are two methods of obtaining our lists of local authors. Both lists contain individuals who may be an author, a performer, or a producer/director. The first method involves doing a search of our online catalog. This list has items we own by local individuals. It is not a complete list of all who may be local authors/performers. The second list, a master list, is maintained by the Library System's Cataloging Department. The Cataloging Department's list has the names of individuals who have lived in Santa Cruz County or worked in Santa Cruz County sometime during their lifetime, even if the collection has no holdings by this person.

To Find Local Author/Performers

Items are NOT shelved in a special local author section, but rather under the call number (subject) where the item best fits. To find titles by local authors/performers, search the online catalog by call number:

• Go to the Library Web Catalog (Will NOT work in AquaBrowser)
• In the blue bar at the top, choose "Call number/isbn search"
• In the search box that comes up, type: local author

You will get a list of local authors arranged by last names, beginning with "A." To display the list starting with a particular letter, type "local author" followed by a space, and then the letter. For example, "local author d" will retrieve a list of names beginning with the letter "d."

To obtain a current copy of the Cataloging Departments local author list, you will need to ask a member of the staff. The list may or may not indicate if the person is an author, performer, composer, etc. An individual will stay on this list if the Library System does not currently have the items they wrote or produced.
