- "If You Like..." — A handy reference guide to authors and genres
"If you like..." is compiled and maintained by the librarians at Hennepin County Library. You can search their files by author to find other authors you might like. You can search by subject to find fiction on a particular theme or genre. Or you can browse their lists.
- American Booksellers Association — News from independent booksellers
Includes the "Indie Next List", which previews bookseller-recommended favorites--the next bestsellers and undiscovered gems. You can also browse indie bestseller lists by region or specialty.
- Books and Authors — Title recommendations, plot summaries, & awards information
Search by author, title, series, awards and other criteria. An "if you like" search connects readers to themes and genres. Also includes author information, themes and origins, ideal for reading groups and book clubs. To access this resource from home, login using your SCPL Library Card and PIN

EarlyWord's mission is to bring publishers and public libraries together to meet the demands of readers. It brings together bestseller lists, publisher information, and book reviews from many newspapers and magazines. The site's blog covers everything that is new and interesting from Chick Lit to memoirs.
- Novelist — Your Guide to Fiction
NoveList assists fiction readers in finding new authors and titles. Readers can use a favorite author or title to locate other authors and titles of interest. - Reader's Robot — Book reviews by genre
Created as a forum for readers to share information about books they've enjoyed. With about 5,000 reviews, in 21 genres, most readers will find something new and interesting. Browse by category, or search by keyword or by "appeal," which allows you to choose from a list of characteristics within a genre (e.g., "mystery novels where the focus of the story is on people and the psychology of characters and the author's style is elegant and 'literary'").
