Hope Services and Hope Senior Services

Once a month Outreach staff visit the Hope Center for Developmentally Disabled Adults in downtown Santa Cruz and Hope Senior Services in Aptos. They read stories, books and poems in a reader's theater style and bring materials for the clients to read and listen to.

Jail Service

Once a month Outreach staff visit the Santa Cruz County Jail to bring donated paperbacks to the inmates. The books are selected from donations to the Friends of Santa Cruz Public Libraries, and do not need to be returned.

Outreach delivers

"Bookmobiles come in all shapes & sizes -- and species. Libraries deliver books by truck, boat, airplane...camel, donkey, elephant, horse...whatever it takes. So far, SCPL has confined itself to motorized vehicles (including a decommissioned police car). But who knows what the future may bring? (Delivery by book robot, perhaps?)" [More]
