You Can Do That @ the Library?!
Share Your Story
Join a community project, "We Have Stories To Tell" which unites children with family members, senior citizens and library staff to encourage the development of literacy skills through story telling. Children have the opportunity to make their own books in which they portray the story they are telling with illustrations of their own design.

New App Features SCPL Local History Photos
Santa Cruz-based company Mobile Ranger has created a new iPhone/iPad app offering a mobile tour of West Cliff Drive and the north Coast of Santa Cruz. The tour allows users to learn about the natural and human history of Santa Cruz landscapes.
App developer Julia Gaudinski used photographs from Santa Cruz Public Library's Local History collection to illustrate the tour. Library staff are excited about the opportunity to partner with members of the community in new ways to share our local resources.
The app contains both a walking and a driving tour. The walking tour is a 28-stop exploration of Santa Cruz’s West Cliff Drive from Natural Bridges State Beach to the end of the Municipal Wharf. The five-stop driving tour goes up the coast from Long Marine Lab to the Davenport Cement Plant. For each, an interactive map shows the user’s location relative to the tour stops. Rich with photos and text, each stop tells a story.
The "Mobile Ranger-Santa Cruz" app is currently available in the iTunes App Store. It will be out for Android phones within the next few months. SCPL's Local History collection is always available at www.santacruzpl.org.
