Share Your Story

Join a community project, "We Have Stories To Tell" which unites children with family members, senior citizens and library staff to encourage the development of literacy skills through story telling. Children have the opportunity to make their own books in which they portray the story they are telling with illustrations of their own design.

Visualizing the Depression Photo Exhibit

SCPL News

Visualizing the Depression, a Depression Era Photo Exhibit is going on now at the Downtown Branch as part of Santa Cruz Reads. The exhibit is curated by Lance Sprague and the late Don Rothman, who selected photos from the Library of Congress Collection of 166,000 images. Photographers include Dorothea Lange, Arthur Rothstein, Walker Evans and other government-sponsored photographers.

The exhibit opens March 7th and runs through March 9th in the Downtown Branch meeting room. It runs Friday until 8pm and Saturday from 1pm - 4pm. There will be docents on hand to answer any questions you may have about the exhibit. Don't miss out on this powerful look at American history.

The next photo exhibit in the Downtown meeting room is The Joads by Another Name, which runs from March 12 - 30th.
