You Can Do That @ the Library?!
We will help you to recycle it
The Libraries accept cell phones and chargers, PDAs, pagers, books, videos and music CDs--and some branches will even take your used batteries. Ask at your nearest branch to find out what they will accept for recycling.

Honor Our Fallen Officers
On Feb. 26, 2013 in the City of Santa Cruz, Sgt. Butch Baker and Officer Elizabeth Butler were killed in the line of duty. In the wake of this devastating tragedy, community members have asked what they can do to express their condolences and support for the families involved, members of the Santa Cruz Police Department, and other first responders.
Out of respect for our fallen officers, all branches of the Santa Cruz Public Library System will be open 3-7pm on Thursday, March 7th. Programs scheduled prior to 3pm are either canceled or will be rescheduled, and Bookmobile will not be making its usual stops. Most city offices will also be closed; see the City of Santa Cruz website for more information.
We've created a Honor Our Fallen Resources page with information on how you can help, information about the memorial service, and resources to help loved ones cope with this tragedy.
For more information on the memorial and alternate viewing options, please see the Santa Cruz Police Department Blog.
A procession of law enforcement and emergency response vehicles will depart for the memorial at 8:45am from the Boardwalk and proceed down Ocean Street to Highway 17 traveling at 30 miles per hour. Vehicles will not be allowed to pass the procession while traveling over Highway 17. There will be no parking on Ocean Street prior to and during the procession. To minimize traffic impacts, those attending the memorial or commuting to jobs over the hill are advised to leave no later than 7:45am before the procession begins. For more information, see CommuteSolutions.org's information page.
