You Can Do That @ the Library?!
Share Your Story
Join a community project, "We Have Stories To Tell" which unites children with family members, senior citizens and library staff to encourage the development of literacy skills through story telling. Children have the opportunity to make their own books in which they portray the story they are telling with illustrations of their own design.
SCPL News & Announcements - December 2012 Archive
Holiday and 2013 Event Schedule
The holidays are upon us! All library branches will be closed December 24th and 25th for the Christmas holiday, and on December 31st and January 1st for the New Year. Other than these dates, all branches except Felton and Branciforte will be open on their usual schedules.
The Felton Branch will be closed for painting from Sunday, December 23rd through Thursday, January 3rd. The book drop will also be closed, so any items which need to be returned during this period should be taken to another Santa Cruz Library branch. The Branciforte Branch will be closed on December 26th and 27th due to a building maintenance issue, and resume regular open hours on Friday December 28th.
The new year is coming soon, and it will be full of great events for kids, teens, and adults. The January-May 2013 schedule is already available. Pick up a paper copy in your local branch, or download the pdf version.
Update your calendars now, and we'll see you at the library!

This video was conceived and created by our staff, featuring Howie Kimel on piano.
The sheet music collection is housed at the Downtown Branch Library Reference Department. This collection is available for reference use and for viewing and/or copying.
Learn More about the Catalog
The updated library catalog that we launched a few weeks ago is working better than ever. Some features have moved or changed in the process, so to help you get re-oriented we've put together some tutorials to help you make the most of the new catalog features.
Our staff have made some great how-to videos, which you can find on our website or our YouTube channel. These focus on renewing items, managing your holds and setting your account preferences. We've also got some written tutorials illustrated with screenshots, for those with lower bandwidth.
For example, here's the video for your account login and renewals:
You can find links to all the tutorials on the Catalog Help and Tutorials page.
