Important Changes Coming in October
The Santa Cruz Public Library System will be rolling out a new Catalog System this October! We're very excited about what the new system has to offer. Some services and policies will be changing, and there will be a temporary effect on library hours and services.ALL BRANCHES WILL BE CLOSED from Friday, October 21 through Monday, October 24.
During the month of October, the Santa Cruz Public Library will change to new operating software. All branches will be closed from 10/21 through 10/24 so that staff can complete the final steps.
Please note that the Aptos branch will be closed starting October 17th for ceiling reconstruction.
The Library System will REOPEN to regular hours starting Tuesday, October 25, using the new Evergreen library software.
LIMITED ACCESS from Monday, October 17 through Thursday, October 20.
As library data is moved 10/17 through 10/20, there will be limited check outs and no access to library accounts to check in items, place requests, or pay fines. Items checked out after October 1 will not be due back until after the library re-opens on the new system. Due to limited storage space while our system is down, please do not return items October 17 through October 24.
NEW 3-WEEK LOAN PERIOD begins Saturday, October 1.
The current GRACE PERIOD POLICY for checked out items ENDS on Sunday, October 16. The simplified 3 week loan period means that fines will begin on the first day that items are overdue. Overdue fines will accrue and be posted to your account on a day-to-day basis.
PLEASE RENEW ITEMS IN PERSON AT YOUR BRANCH.
TO RECEIVE NOTICES ABOUT OVERDUES or REQUESTS, please be sure that the Library has your current email address. If you need to add or change your email, send a message to firstname.lastname@example.org including your name and library card number.
Beginning October 17, automated phone notices and phone renewals will no longer be available.
