Library Joint Powers Board Seeks New Citizen Member
The Library Joint Powers Board for the Santa Cruz Public Libraries is advertising for a new citizen member who resides in the geographical area south of the City of Santa Cruz to the Watsonville City limit. The term begins in January 2012 and is a 4 year appointment with the possibility of one renewal.
The SCPL Joint Powers Board (LJPB) is a governing board whose broad duties are outlined by the Joint Powers Agreement. The Board is responsible for financial oversight, passing a balanced annual budget, setting strategy and policy for the library to achieve its mission, and establishing criteria for success and evaluating library service. The Board ensures that quality library services are provided to meet the needs of a diverse community. The Board represents the public and is accountable to the public.
LJPB Meetings are held once a month on the first Monday of the month. Meetings begin at 6 or 6:30pm based on the agenda and are typically finished by 10pm. Meetings are open to the public and generally held at the Central Library Community Meeting Room.
The application deadline is November 28 with 5 minute presentations to the Library Joint Powers Board at the December 5 regular meeting.
