PCAPS Coordinator Job Description

 

The Philadelphia Coalition Advocating for Public Schools is seeking applicants for the position of Coalition Coordinator. PCAPS is a growing community-labor coalition committed to uniting students, parents, educators and community members in Philadelphia to advance economic justice and quality public education through organizing. PCAPS seeks a full time coalition coordinator to develop and implement a fundraising plan, provide direction and coordination around campaign organizing and lead trainings or other projects for PCAPS in coordination with its leadership.

Title: Coalition Coordinator
Reports to: Executive Committee of PCAPS Coalition
Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Salary: $50,000


Responsibilities

  • Coordination and supervision of PCAPS campaigns
  • Support the development of strong campaign plans and timely progress on PCAPS campaigns
  • Fundraising and reporting to foundations and labor unions
  • Build PCAPS through recruitment of new groups and the forging of alliances
  • Organize and attend coalition Steering Committee meetings
  • Organize and facilitate PCAPS Executive Committee meetings
  • Facilitate communication between all levels of PCAPS membership
  • Provide strategic and technical support to PCAPS member organizations
  • Support clear ownership and understanding of roles, governance, campaigns, accountability agreements, and partnerships/ alliances among staff leaders and member leaders through one-on-one relationship building, strong group process and clear communication practices
  • Communicate with a community organization or labor union if and when problems emerge about their role and performance

Candidates committed to strengthening the capacity of community organizations and labor unions through organizing are strongly encouraged to apply. We are looking for applicants who have extensive organizing experience. Additional experience with grant writing and fundraising, knowledge of public education K-12, union organizing and community organizing preferable. This position requires extended work hours.
