Political Director

O’Keefe Search seeks candidates in the New York area.

Job Description:

Political Director for a  union in New York City responsible for coordinating the union’s political program, including both its electoral work and its legislative advocacy.

Duties:

• Plan and execute targeted electoral and legislative campaigns that will help to develop legislation supportive of the mission and goals of the union membership.

•Plan and direct member political giving campaign

•Develop member canvassing program.

•Develop strategic political and community relationships to support union organizing and contract campaigns

•Support issue campaigns of importance to the union membership

•Develop relevant materials to support candidates and campaign-related programs work collaboratively with community groups and allied organizations to advance political campaigns

Requirements:

•5 + years relevant experience.

•Staff management experience

• Training and successful experience in electoral campaigns as well as involvement in ballot initiative campaigns at state and local level

•Strong grassroots organizing and training skills

•Strong knowledge of New York City and state politics

•Bilingual a plus

• Long and irregular hours required.  Travel required.
