FOREIGN LEVIES ACCOUNTING MANAGER


The Foreign Levies Program of the Writers Guild of America, West, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Foreign Levies Accounting Manager. This is a full-time, exempt position with excellent comprehensive benefits package.  The salary range for this position begins at $80,000+ annualized DOE

The Foreign Levies Accounting Manager is responsible for administering all aspects of the foreign levies program:  managing the collection and distribution functions; ensuring transparency through the development of reporting procedures; safeguarding foreign levies assets through internal controls; quality control reviews and process improvements.  This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and manages a staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1) Administer agreements with foreign collection societies and producer organizations.
2) Process remittances from foreign collecting societies, categorized by country, levy type and collection year.
3) Analyze distribution reports received from foreign collecting societies for each remittance.
4) Supervise distribution of foreign levies to lawful payees, including credited writers and their heirs and beneficiaries.
5) Maintain a website displaying comprehensive information about the foreign levies program, including searchable lists of writers’ names and project titles.
6) Research information regarding undistributable funds to identify lawful payees.
7) Prepare analytical reports on remittances, disbursements and fund balances.
8) Administer and revise business rules and internal control procedures.
9) Identify efficiencies to streamline processes and enhance service level of the department.
10) Supervise staff and provide training to department personnel.
11) Other duties as required.


OCCUPATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

1) Self-starter with strong work ethic
2) Solid organizational and managerial skills to effectively manage multiple activities under tight deadlines
3) Must have broad business processes perspective and strong systems literacy
4) Advanced knowledge of Excel
5) Ability to interface and communicate professionally at all levels of organization in setting priorities
6) Strong verbal, written and analytical skills, with attention to detail
7) Experience must include exposure to financial systems receipts and payments processing cycles, maintenance of general ledger accounts and familiarity with financial reporting practices
8) Experience with Epicor (Financial System), SQL and other business programs, a plus
9) Minimum of 10 years responsible finance/accounting experience
10) Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or other business-related major
11) Minimum of five years of increasingly responsible supervisorial/managerial experience
